4H Council themed basket

WHAT:  horse lovers movie basket

WHERE: council has agreed to live auction this basket off during the contesting show at the County Fair

WHO:  Hoofprints members are encouraged to donate items for our basket!  We already have donations of horse stickers, several horse movies, a basket, and clear cellophane.  What we need: popcorn, boxed candy, fuzzy slippers, or anything else to make a perfect comfy movie night.

HOW:  Bring any items you wish to donate (or money to be used to purchase these items) or the open show this weekend, to Art or Stephanie during clinics, or to the next club meeting on June 26.  All donations must be received by the 26th.

Area Show

The Area 6 horse show at Johnson County has been postponed due to significant rainfall this week. There is standing water everywhere on the grounds. The show is being rescheduled for June 27-28. Please help spread the word!

Flower Pick Up


Flowers will be delivered on Friday, May 9th between 1 and 3 pm.  If you are interested in working, please see below from Mrs. Acker:

I need to know their preference for working one of these shifts with their name and phone number please:

Friday - from 1-4 to help unload the trucks and sort.
Friday - from 4-8 to help label, sort, load cars and load left overs into the Egenolf building for later.
Saturday - from 7-10 at Heartland Bank
Saturday - from 10-2 at Heartland Bank
Saturday - from 2-5 at Heartland Bank

First come, first served, I will email/call them back with their times.


If you are unable to work, you may pick up your flower orders from 5:30-7:30pm on Friday.  You will sign a form at pickup verifying that your order is correct.

Upcoming Dates

Good afternoon Members!

We have a lot of upcoming dates on the calendar!

1.  Clinics start this week!  Mini 4-H has their clinic tonight (please help spread the word), skills evaluations are Wednesday, and Western Pleasure clinic is Thursday.  Please refer to the calendar on the website for all upcoming clinics.

2.  Flower deliveries are this Friday, May 9th.  We are still waiting on a delivery time from the grower.  I will send out another email later this week with the exact time.  For now, please expect delivery/pickup Friday afternoon/evening.  

3.  The public flower sale is Saturday, May 10th.  If you would like to help with delivery, sorting, or the public sale, please email Elizabeth Acker asap so she can coordinate her volunteers.  grnwdackers@sbcglobal.net

4.  Our May club meeting will be Monday, May 12th, 7pm, at the Extension Office.  This is our last meeting in the Extension Office before we move to the shelter house in June!  

5.  All horse enrollments are due MAY 15TH!!!!!!  Please know that leaders can help at the meeting Monday, but you may not want to wait until then to get started, in case you have issues. Please see the link on the website to enroll.  Remember each 4-H sibling needs to enroll each horse they plan on showing at the fair.  If you have any questions, please let the Extension Office or a leader know!

Flower Sales and Meeting Time


This is a reminder that our club meeting will be this Thursday, March 20th at 7pm.  This meeting will be held at the Extension Office.  We have a lot of fun things planned to share with you!

Please bring completed enrollment forms (if not already turned in), and FLOWER sales forms!  Enrollment forms are due to the Extension Office April 1st, and our club flower sales forms are due at the meeting with all money.

Leaders will be at the Extension Office Wednesday, March 19th, from 6-7pm to collect flower forms and money in case you are unable to attend the meeting.  Or, you can turn forms in to the Extension Office BEFORE March 20th at 4pm.

Don't forget to sell, sell, sell!!!  The flower sales are a major fundraiser for our club!!  Flower orders are due at the March 20th club meeting.

ALSO, DON'T FORGET THAT JOHNSON COUNTY HORSE CAMP SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS ARE DUE MARCH 1ST.  MAIL TO AMBER WOLFE OR STEPHANIE DUNN.

The horse and pony website has been updated!  Under the files tab, there are forms for state horsemanship camp, clinics at the Hoosier Horse fair, and our tack swap flyer!  Check it out!

If you are interested in the clinics at Hoosier Horse Fair read on:

Clinicians for a huge variety of disciplines, from dressage to Horsemanship, jumping, barrel racing, etc will be included. The Indiana Horse Council has a clinician, Raye Lochert, with a specific focus on working with youth. In addition, they have offered to have an exclusive clinic for 4-H members with Raye Lochert on being successful in Speed Events.
